The Kalachakra Stupa in Garanas
Thanks to generous donations from private
sponsors the Kalachakra Stupa was built on the grounds of the
Kalachakra Kalapa Centre in southwest Styria, Austria.
A Stupa is a Buddhist religious building, representing the enlightened
nature of a Buddha. This Stupa is an exact copy of the Stupa that
has just been
built at the residence of H.H. Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India.
Geshe
Tenzin Dhargye, resident Lama in the Buddhist Centre She
Drup Ling Graz from December 2000 to October 2002, and Ngawang Lodoe,
expert from the monastery of H.H. Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, were supervising
the
construction
of the
Stupa.
In June 2002 the Stupa was structurally completed. According to tradition
it was filled with incense, holy scriptures, valuable items of everyday
use and precious substances. Relics and medicine for the filling of the
Stupa were provided by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the venerable representatives
of the five Tibetan
Buddhist lineages and other important masters.
Members of the Kalachakra organization team and many volunteers devoted their
spare time to contribute to the preparations.
The stupa was completed and inaugurated on 23 October 2002 by the abbot
of Namgyal Monastery, Ven. Jhado Rinpoche, in the presence of 20 monks. (See
